Crash victims ran popular 400 Market chip truck

A couple wiped out in the matter of a moment last weekend were remembered by devotees of the 400 Market.

Don and Elsie Lourie, both 74 and both of Toronto, were killed Saturday afternoon while northbound on Highway 400, when the tailgate of a southbound dump truck came off and smashed through the windshield of their pickup, just north of King Road.  

The couple ran operated the  popular Chunky Fries truck for more than two decades before selling it last year.

Two men, aged 29 and 49, were in Newmarket court Tuesday, one charged with criminal negligence causing death and dangerous driving causing death, the other with dangerous driving.
