A suspected drug dealer tried to give South Simcoe Police the slip last Friday night, but he didn’t get far.
When police pulled over a suspicious vehicle on Reive Road near the Highway 400 and County Road 89 interchange at about 11 p.m., the driver waited for the officer to get out of his cruiser before speeding off.
But police found the car a few minutes later after the driver spun out trying to negotiate a sharp curve on Reive Road near Conc. 4.
The driver was slightly injured and was still inside the vehicle.
Police soon found out why he was so anxious to get away.
Officers discovered a substantial amount of drugs inside the car, including 1 kilo of cocaine, ½ kilo of marijuana, 125 grams of cocaine and ecstasy pills.
Charged with trafficking, dangerous driving, flight from a peace officer and breach of probation is a 21-year-old Pickering man.
