The baseball season for teams in the North Dufferin Baseball League will get underway in less than a month, with the first game to be played on May 3.
The ranks of the league have expanded again this year by two teams.
Joining the league is a Mansfield junior team, and another Barrie senior team. The league is now comprised of 18 teams, 14 of which are senior teams, and four junior teams.
With the increase in the number of senior teams, the NDBL voted for a divisional format consisting of East and West Divisions.
Making up the East Division are the Aurora Jays, Barrie Red Sox A, Barrie Red Sox B, Bolton Brewers, Midland Indians, Orillia Majors, and Simcoe County Cougars.
The West Division teams include the Angus Black Sox, Clearview Orioles, Creemore Braves, Ivy Leafs, Lisle Astros, Mansfield Cubs and New Lowell Knights.
Each senior team will play 23 games, twice in their own division, once against the other division, and once against each junior team.
The junior teams will also play a 23-game schedule, playing each of the other junior teams three times and once against each senior team.
The Junior Division includes the Barrie Red Sox, Bolton Braves, Mansfield Brewers and Midland Twins.
The 2008 schedule will be available on the league’s website, later in April.
Important events during the season include the Lisle Astros tournament on the Victoria Day weekend, the league’s annual all-star game at Lisle on July 6, the New Lowell Knights tournament on the Civic Holiday weekend, and the league awards night and dance, scheduled for Aug. 23.
