Local businesspeople are networking, socializing and learning valuable tips for a mere $10 a pop by attending monthly breakfast meetings hosted by the Greater Innisfil Chamber of Commerce.
Michele Newton of the GICC says the breakfast sessions were started last autumn as a successor to the monthly luncheon gatherings the group had organized.
“We realized a lot of people can’t get out to a lunch when they are running their own business,” Newton said.
Now, sessions begin on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:15 a.m. at OLG Georgian Slots. Meetings conclude promptly at 9 a.m., allowing participants to return to their place of business in a timely manner.
“A portion of the meeting is for networking and to let people talk briefly about their business,” Newton says. “We enjoy a hot buffet breakfast and then listen to a guest speaker for about half an hour.”
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 9. Bradley Rice of Central Credit Control Ltd. will speak on “Debt Collection – A Delicate Art”.
Rice will discuss areas such as warning signals that your past due accounts are in trouble, setting up effective collection procedures and what to do when all of your efforts to collect an overdue account have failed.
The fee for attendance is $10 for both chamber members and non-members.
The Chamber always welcomes newcomers, says Claudia Carmona, office co-ordinator for the GICC.
“It gives a nice sense of belonging by getting to know the people in our business community,” Carmona says. “We hope people will be able to take away helpful tips for their business.”

To reserve a spot, call Carmona at 431-4199.
