Dena Cordery, who turns 100 this Saturday, is joined by daughter Brenda Henderson of Barrie during a recent visit at the Innisfil Beach Gardens Retirement Residence.

Family and friends of Dena Cordery (nee Tate) will enjoy a lifetime of memories and good times this Saturday.
Relatives and acquaintances will be joining Mrs. Cordery on the occasion of her 100th birthday at an open house being held at the Innisfil Lions Hall, 982 Innisfil Beach Rd. from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 29.
Born in Waldemar, ON on March 29, 1908, Mrs. Cordery was one of the youngest of 13 children. At the tender age of 16, she moved to Toronto where she worked as a milliner until she married Frank Cordery in 1928.
The Corderys raised five children. There are now 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, including a granddaughter in Shanghai and a grandson living in Luxembourg.
The couple moved north after spending close to 40 years living in the Leaside neighbourhood in Toronto to Innisfil Beach Gardens in 1998. They were thrilled to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary in 2003. Mr. Cordery died in 2004.
Brenda Henderson, one of their daughters, said her parents travelled extensively during the years, including trips to Hong Kong, Australia, Fiji, the Canary Islands, Hawaii, Scotland, Ireland and throughout Europe.
“We expect to have quite a turnout on Saturday,” Henderson said. “People will be coming from all over.”
