The "barn" portion of the new town hall was designed to honour the town's rich rural background.

Some residents have already given Innisfil’s new $10.5-million town hall a few nicknames.
The Innisfil Beach Road administration building, which opened March 4, has been called “the garage” and “a barn” in letters to the editor.
If passersby think part on the building looks like a barn that only means designers did what they set out to do.
At council’s inaugural March 12 meeting in the new building, Deputy Mayor Gord Wauchope said the resemblance to a barn was no mistake
“The barn design was on purpose,” Wauchope said.
The “barn” portion of the building reflects Innisfil’s rural history, while the more modern portion reflects the town’s urbanization.
“It was to combine, the rural and urban designs,” Wauchope said.
Inside the so-called barn, sits an impressive state-of-the-art council chamber with theatre style seating, large presentation screens, built-in computer screens for staff and councillors who are all equipped with microphones.
