Re: Fewer ER visits not a big surprise, March 7 letter by W A Roberts
We unfortunately have had to use the services of the ER department at Royal Victoria Hospital more than 30 times in the last three years. It is my understanding that it is made quite clear that you see the triage nurse and then are seen in priority, meaning the most serious cases first. Would you not want it to be that way?
Not once did any staff member have a less than caring attitude. On several occasions my husband was admitted. Yes, a couple of times we had to wait for a bed but so did everyone else that was in emerg and the trauma units.
The doctors and nurses are overworked and in my opinion do an excellent job. We have been treated with such kindness and they have gone out of their way, which is amazing, considering the number of patients they see in a day.
We were several months at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto and it was the same there. To blame RVH is not only wrong, but definitely unfair. Until our government wakes up and deals with this, there will always be reasons to be unhappy.
Seems lots of folks complain but sure are happy when they have to use the facility.
