I would like to respond to Wendy Miller's comments in the Innisfil Journal in the June 18th issue. The Cookstown & District Chamber of Commerce are behind the beautification of Cookstown, not the town. In past years we have applied to the community reinvestment funds to cover the cost of our banners which decorate the main street but the flowers & benches on our main street have been purchased by the Chamber and planted & maintained by volunteers. The maintenace costs of our banners are also covered by the Chamber. The Wing Ding profits are used for these type of purchases. We are very proud of our village and want to welcome tourists to the area and try to keep our main street looking attractive. Perhaps you should be speaking to the communities in bloom committee which Mayor Brian Jackson chairs for assistance with these flower beds.

Vice President
