As Chief for a Day, Christopher Rayner had a message for the elected representatives of Innisfil.
“I walk to school everyday so the Town needs to build a sidewalk here,” the Grade 5 Sunnybrae Public School student said.
Christopher isn’t alone. Parents, teachers and students at the Stroud school have been clamouring for a sidewalk along Sunnybrae Avenue for years.
“It’s not safe,” the 10-year-old said.
Christopher wrote an essay to beat out all other Grade 5 students in Innisfil to become Chief for a Day.
Christopher had high praise for South Simcoe Police officers who do look out for the safety of the community.
“They do a really good job,” Christopher said. “I’ve seen unmarked police cars on my street stopping speeders.”
As part of his duties, Christopher spent last Friday afternoon with the force’s marine unit patrolling Lake Simcoe.
