York-Simcoe MP Peter Van Loan brought more than a million dollars to Summerfest last weekend.

The federal government will contribute $333,333 (matched by the Province and Ontario and Innisfil) for upgrades to Innisfil Beach Park. Improvements will include better washroom facilities, beach shoreline remediation and improvements to the boat launch area.

“Innisfil Beach Park plays an important role building our community and is a focus for local events,” Van Loan said.

The second announcement falls under Ottawa’s Gas Tax funding for municipalities. Innisfil’s share of the federal program will be $931,448, a doubling of the amount from 2008. The money will be used for road, sewer and other local infrastructure development.

“Innisfil can benefit from our government’s commitment to support local communities,” Van Loan said.
