Stop spending money on propaganda

An open letter to Mayor Brian Jackson and members of Innisfil Council:

Now that the boundary issue is finally decided, I cannot understand what all the fuss was about.
A tiny sliver at the north end, that had already been put aside for this very use, was all big bad Barrie will get. Every time I opened a newspaper the size of the takeover got bigger and bigger — as far south as the 6th line!
Mayor Jackson, the next issue that comes up — just give us the whole truth.
I certainly hope you will openly and publicly share with your taxpayers the cost of hiring a public relations firm and buying television ads, radio ads, newspaper ads, signs and so on.
Please do not say it came from Georgian Downs slot revenues, so that makes it acceptable.
Revenues to the Town, no matter their origin, should be spent on services for the Town and its people — not on propaganda, regardless of the reason or cause.
One last thing, we heard this was all about local jobs for local people.
Isn’t it ironic that it was a Toronto PR company that was hired.  Surely there is someone in Innisfil who does this kind of work?
