Gabriel Vieira of the 1st Alcona Beavers shovels up some mulch for the tree he just planted at Innisfil Beach Park Saturday morning

Gabriel Vieira of the 1st Alcona Beavers was one of dozens of volunteers who helped plant about 400 saplings at Innisfil Beach Park Saturday morning.

The tree planting was part of a series of digs organized by the South Simcoe Streams Network. The group saw 5,000 trees planted along streams in South Simcoe with help from the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority and Nottawasaga Futures.

The Innisfil Community Events Corporation treated the volunteers to a barbecue lunch, with food donated by Sobeys.
