Innisfil Wolfpack Bantam Team Duivenvoorden Haulage spent the weekend in Virgil, Ontario for the annual Niagara on the Lake tournament (July 11 – 13th).

The First game on Saturday morning was against Brampton, with the Wolfpack winning 8 to 5, goals by Kevin Robinson (3), Colin Mawdsley (2), Cameron Johnston (1) and Cody Edling (2).
In the afternoon, they took on the Whitby Warriors, where they once again took charge, with a 7 to 3 win, goals by Danny Lee (3), Colin Mawdsley (3) and Connor McGregor (1).  Bradley Purcell defended our net like a pro, despite the many penalties by our team.

Sunday morning was our third game against the Peterborough Lakers where our team skills were tried.  Despite a hard battle, the Peterborough Lakers passing skills out did us, beating us 7 to 4. Goals scored were by Cody Edling (2), Colin Mawdsley (1) and Vaughan Pilote (1).

Despite our loss to Peterborough, it meant we placed second, giving us the opportunity to face them again in the Championship game for the C Division.  At 1:45 p.m., Innisfil set off to defend themselves against Peterborough, bringing out a whole different team attitude for this game – we were there to win.

It was a battle, with 20 minutes of penalties to serve; but our goalie, Bradley Purcell stood tall to the challenge with some huge saves.  At the end of the second period, it was 5 – 4 for Innisfil.

As the day heated up and the arena got hotter, we moved on to the third period where the boys also turned up the heat and saw Cody Edling and Ben Duivenvoorden score a goal each to give us a 7 to 4 lead.

But Peterborough did not give up and retaliated with three goals within no time, tying up the game while we were short handed.  With two minutes left in the game, Peterborough took a penalty which would cost them the game, and at the 49 second mark , Kyle Feeney brought our boys the Gold Medal by scoring in a 5 on 4 situation.  Other goals were by Kyle Bird (1), Cam Johnston (1), Colin Mawdsley (1), Kevin Robinson (1), Danny Lee (1), Cody Edling (1), and Ben Duivenvoorden (1).

The 2008 Bantam team consisted of Danny Lee, Ben Duivenvoorden, Kyle Orr, Cody Edling, Vaughan Pilote, Steven Power, Marcus Richardson, Colin Mawdsley, Cody Brown, Connor McGregor, Kevin Robinson, Kyle Bird, Cam Johnston, Kyle Feeney and Bradley Purcell in net, with our Coach JD Smithson, Assistant Coach Adam Smithson, and our trainer John Power on the bench.

The Bantam team heads to Mimico this weekend (July 19 and 20th) to take on Fort Erie, Mimico and Milton in a tournament.
