A few drivers are off the road after calls from concerned residents.
Simcoe County municipalities joined together this spring to fight impaired driving, with a program called Safe Roads… Your Call.
The program gets motorists to call 911 when they see someone driving dangerously.
Since the launch April 22, the South Simcoe Police Communication Centre has received 188 calls reporting suspected impaired drivers. These calls resulted in 23 impaired driving or driving over 80 milligram charges, four 12-hour licence suspensions, two drug seizures, one street racing charge and three Liquor Licence Act charges.
Impaired driving is the leading cause of criminal death in Canada.
If you see a suspected impaired driver, call and report it. Police will ask you to provide your location, a description of the vehicle and what direction it was heading.
