South Simcoe Police marine unit officers were quick to lay charges Friday afternoon as the Canada Day long weekend approached.

Soon after starting patrol, police pulled over an 18-foot jet boat and discovered the operators did not have any life jackets on board.

They were given a ticket and were ordered to shore by police.

Soon after, police stopped another boat for towing a water skier without another person on board to act as a “spotter.”

While police were questioning the driver, they noticed open liquor in the boat.

The driver was charged with failing to have a person onboard keeping watch and a Liquor Licence Act offence.
