Walking and talking. Deputy Mayor Gord Wauchope and Mayor Brian Jackson led about 100 residents on the annual Mayor’s Walk for Health Friday.

Mayor Brian Jackson must have passed a bylaw to make sure the weather was perfect for his annual Mayor’s Walk for Health Friday.
About 100 residents and town staff joined the mayor and Deputy Mayor Gord Wauchope for a two kilometre stroll from Sobey’s to the Alcona Library and back.
South Simcoe Police officers escorted the walkers, stopping traffic on Innisfil Beach Road to clear the way.
The two politicians admitted to talking a little politics as they led the way.
“We’re exercising our brains and our legs,” Jackson said, with a laugh.
Jackson was sporting a cast on his left wrist, which he injured last month while doing some work around his house. The injury hasn’t stopped him from doing any of his official duties, though.
