One of three suspects in an alleged street racing case that killed an Innisfil man will remain behind bars for at least another few weeks.
The three GTA men appeared in Barrie court Wednesday – Nauman Nusrat, 20, via video remand – and had their cases put over until Nov. 8. Nusrat was denied bail, but will appear before a bail review on Oct. 29.
Nusrat, along with Prabhjit Multani, also 20, and Ravi Badhwar, 21, faces charges of street racing causing death and dangerous driving, in connection with the death of David Virgoe on June 18. The Innisfil trucker had to swerve his rig to avoid motorists darting into and out of Highway 400 traffic at high speeds, left the road and ended up in a ditch.
Virgoe's death sparked an outcry for tougher legislation against street racers.
Nusrat has been incarcerated at the Central North Correctional Centre in Penetanguishene ever since, awaiting a trial that could be as much as a year away.
