In fact they looked better than ever during the afternoon game in Stayner.
The Hornets notched six goals in the first period then followed up with three in the second. The coup de grâce came with two more markers in the third.
Alliston netminder Troy Dowswell was robbed of the shutout midway through the third during a scramble in front of the net that gave the Siskins their only goal of the game.
The win gave the Hornets a two-point lead over the Penetang Kings going into the final two games of the regular season. Both teams have played 40 games.
The three-game weekend got underway when the Hornets started the road series on Friday in a hard fought 2-1 win over the Midland Flyers.
The Flyers have a mediocre 15-19-3 record but at the same time have been responsible for giving the Hornets some of their toughest wins this year.
The action continued on Saturday with an evening game against the Erin Shamrocks. The Hornets left with a 7-2 win.
With the weekend behind them, the Alliston squad has a 12-game winning streak that shows no sign of waning and the stats back them up. Of the top 10 league point leaders, five of them wear the Hornets green and gold.
Penetang's Aaron Duval is at the top of the list with 27 goals, 39 assists and 66 points. But Alliston right-winger Zenon Byblow is the league's top scorer with 32 goals.
Kurtis Brossard, Brett Eeles, and Thomas Faris, fall into third, fourth, and fifth position in the standings with Brossard notching 51 points and Eeles and Faris each with 49 to their credit. Hornet centre, Ryan Algar is in eighth spot and second in assists with 32 so far this year.
Alliston goalies, Jon Porretta and Troy Dowswell have also performed well this year and figure in the third and fourth spots of the 12 listed net minders in the league. Alternating in games for the season, both goalies have impressive numbers on the chart with Porretta achieving a 2.09 goals against average, and Dowswell close behind with 2.38.
With just two games left in the regular season the Hornets have a very real shot at finishing in first place which would also give them the opportunity to choose a bye in the first round of the playoffs in the seven team league.
But it's not over yet. The last two games will be on the road against the two other top teams in the league.
On Fri., Feb. 1, the Hornets will travel to Fergus to play the third-place Devils in an 8:30 p.m. game. The next night, Sat., Feb.2, the squad will take on Penetang at the Kings' home barn in a game that will most likely be the one to see this year. The puck drop is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
