The Hornets delivered a 6-4 win over the Fergus Devils at the New Tec Rec Friday but a trip to Midland the following night ended with a 3-3 tie against the Flyers.
The Friday game started strong for the Alliston squad when Jason Farquhar and Robbie Rutledge both scored within ten seconds of each other in the opening period.
Fergus capitalized on a two-man advantage early in the second and scored when the Hornets took penalties after a minor scuffle. The Devils put their second goal into the Alliston net 20 seconds later on the power play to tie it up.
A third power play goal gave Fergus the lead going into the third frame.
Alliston's Alex McTeer tied it up for the Hornets 53 seconds into the third period and Kyle McDowell got some insurance at the midway mark to give the Alliston a two-goal lead.
Jason Campeau got the fifth Alliston marker after tipping in a blistering slapshot fired by Ryan Algar from the blue line.
Thomas Faris got goal number six for the Hornets with 1:28 left on the clock.
Hornet forward, Ryan Algar, said the team came out for the second period looking to make up the one-goal deficit.
"After we were down 3-2 in the first, the guys started battling back," he said. "I think they really had their heads up for the second. They're (Fergus) a good club," He said of the Devils. "They're tough."
The away game in Midland marked the second time in as many games that the Flyers and Hornets have played to a tie. Both games took place in Midland and both ended with a 3-3 score.
The Hornets have acquired two new players going into the new year.
Former Hornet, Alex McTeer, who played two previous seasons with the team has returned for the rest of the season.
Mitch Ronan, who played last season with the Schomberg Cougars, has signed on as well.
After the weekend the Hornets have a 22-3-3 record and are in second place behind the Penetang Kings.
The Alliston team returns to home ice on Fri., Dec. 28 to take on the Schomberg Cougars.
The puck drop is scheduled for 7:20 p.m.
